#Medication Related Errors:Operation Reduce By 50%!!!-World Health Organisation.

👀:@ugojesse

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has launched a global initiative that will target to reduce the incidence of "medication related errors" by 50%(half) within the next 5 years. This initiative has been captioned "The Global Patient Safety Challenge on Medication Safety" and must address the loop holes in global healthcare delivery that relate to all aspects of medication use, as well as prompt management of harm that occurs from medication related errors. As depicted in this graphic illustration by Ugo Jesse, medication related errors can occur when  an individual feels unwell and decides to self-medicate,unknowingly using a wrong medication or harmful dosage or decides to visit a patent chemist store for what turns out in many cases to be uninformed prescriptions by Pharmaceutical Technicians or even Pharmacists themselves. The unfortunate part of the situation is that, medication related errors can also happen when you visit a proper hospital and the healthcare provider mistakenly prescribes a wrong medication or wrong dosage or perhaps, mistakes that occur at your In-Hospital drug dispensary during preparation and administration by Nurses. Though worldwide statistics are not readily available, at least one person is said to die everyday and approximately 1.3 million others injured every year in the USA alone,as a result of medication related errors. On a wider scale, statistics reveal that 1% of total global health spending is the cost associated with medication related errors worldwide, amounting to a whooping $42 billion US Dollars and WHO is urging every stake holder worldwide, including patients,to play an active role in ensuring that this trend is at least halved within the next 5 years,if not totally done away with.

Complications like severe drug induced allergies that can lead to kidney impairment are on the rise. Prolonged intake of medications like Aspirin and Non-Steroidal anti-inflammatory Drugs like Ibuprofen have caused severe erosion and bleeding in the stomachs or intestines of victims. Abnormal life threatening heart rhythms have occurred in the past and still do occur as a result of medication related errors. The list goes on and on and every life that is lost like I always say is one-too-many. Thus WHO is leaving no one out in this challenge from:patient;parents/guardians of patients to Pharmacists and their assistants,as well as Medical Doctors and every other member of the healthcare team that is potentially involved in the medication use interphase,DR KEVWE inclusive. Patients must present to the right and designated Centres for medical consultation and Healthcare providers must double check if not certain,to prescribe when necessary, the right dosage of the appropriate medication needed,as well as ensuring to counsel patients on the appropriate timing of taking their medications. Let the challenge begin people. For more information on the challenge and medication related errors, see references below.

#AUTOMOBILE HEALTH FEATURE REVIEW:WORLD'S BEST MASSAGE IN A BENTLEY MULSANNE?IMAGES!

👀:motortrend.com

That the body massage industry is growing globally in lips and bounds may be stale news for you but to imagine that the automobile industry is taking driver and passenger satisfaction to luxuriously physiotherapeutic extremes is mind blowing. I did a little literature review and if you are as curious as I am,wondering what car's interior can give you the best massage in the world an automobile can offer, then request for a test spin in the 2017 "Bentley Mulsanne EWB" when next you are around a Dealership and return here to drop your review if possible. I'm launching out on the same assignment but in the meantime, you can agree that the interior of this machine says it all.
👀:automobilemag.com

Yes I am a medical Doctor and a Health Gossip columnist but I'm also an unrepentant automobile enthusiast and the fact that this ride has been reported to give heavenly massages brings both world perfectly together for me. I'm also a dreamer and you must never underrate the power of dreams. An exotic massage in my own copy of a newer model might become reality just before you are done criticising my review.

HYPERTENSIVE & NEEDING MEDICATIONS FOR LIFE? THE REALITY.

👀:vanguardpharmacy.com

Blood flows through blood vessels in the human body at a particular pressure but for some reasons or what still proves to be an unknown dilemma to medical scientists in majority of cases, this pressure goes "HYPER-",becoming abnormally high and uncontrollable, unless by Anti-Hypertensive medications. "Mathew Johnson Esq. is a 35 year old legal practitioner and newly diagnosed hypertensive who is finding it difficult to accept the fact that, if his blood pressure is not controlled after a period of strict dietary/lifestyle modification, he will be needing medications for the rest of his life". What is the reality?

World Health Organisation (WHO) statistics reveal that approximately 1.13 billion individuals are hypertensive world wide. Other Organisations like The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have equated figures from their own research to amount to 1 in every 3 individual worldwide.

The good news is that, this condition can be prevented in some cases as outlined in the CDC Infographic above. The reality is that,if complications of hypertension like:hemorrhagic stroke(blood vessel rupture in the brain),chronic kidney disease, heart attack and the likes are to be avoided, then diagnosed patients must continue on their anti-hypertensives as prescribed by their Physicians. All other things being equal, would you rather be medication compliant and live to adorable old age? Or would you wallow in denial and stand the risk of suffering complications? Our candid advise is that, whilst continuing with a healthy diet and exercise invigorated lifestyle, keep up with the medications and go for regular health checks. Poor drug compliance is a silent killer. For more information on Hypertension, see references below.

Today is "WORLD TUBERCULOSIS DAY" and on this special 2017 edition, the World Health Organisation(WHO) and other stake holders are urging every citizen of the world, infected or not, to "UNITE TO STOP TUBERCULOSIS"!!! For those who do not know, Tuberculosis is an infectious bacterial (Mycobacterium Tuberculosis) disease characterised mainly by: chronic cough;fever;night sweats and weight loss. More severe cases may present with coughing up blood and the condition is potentially life threatening. It mainly affects the lungs but can spread to other parts of the body.  A lot is being done by the World Health Organisation and other concerned partners but apparently, there is still a lot of missed opportunity  and lost ground to be covered. See some WHO Campaign materials/posters and references below for more information.

HOW HAPPY WAS THE WORLD ON INTERNATIONAL DAY OF HAPPINESS? #happinessday

👀:clipartsbest.com

Yesterday (March 20th) optimistic/interested Organisations all around the world celebrated the "INTERNATIONAL DAY OF HAPPINESS" to commemorate a special "HAPPINESS" resolution (66/281) that was adopted by a consensus of all 193 member states of the United Nations on the 28th of June,2012 but how happy was the world really,on International Day of Happiness?
👀:wikipedia

This question can be answered if people can really identify what happiness means to them. For the World Health Organisation and many of us, Happiness means a complete state of wellbeing i.e. physical, social which includes financial and psychological/mental wellbeing. A lot of individuals/families in the world today may not enjoy the above listed prerequisites to the fullest or even half of what is supposed to be but the idea is to find a reason to be happy, no matter your circumstance. There are actually countries that enjoy a very healthy dose of happiness as stated in the WORLD HAPPINESS REPORT 2017. If members of families in war torn Syria or Sudan can smile or dying patients receiving hospice care, then why not you. There's too much going on around the world already and there is no gain saying our dear planet earth can use a double dose of happiness,so I have gone to the official website of the "International Happiness Day" to make my solemn pledge "TO CREATE MORE HAPPINESS IN THE WORLD". You can make your pledge too and we can all take action by starting from our homes and immediate neighbours. A happy world can make a healthy world and we are proud to support this special day. A lot is being done by the United Nations to make the world a happier place and the "17 Sustainable Development Goals" is a good start.

HUMAN HEAD TRANSPLANT:ITALIAN NEUROSURGEON SET TO CARRY OUT WORLD'S FIRST.

👀:revenant-99.deviantart.com

The term "Science is Discovery" is about to be redefined as Italian Neurosurgeon,Sergio Canavero, prepares to carry out the world's first "HUMAN HEAD TRANSPLANT"!!!! When I first came across this information, I wondered if Medical scientists were going bananas but the Surgeon in question seems to be very sure of himself and his skill as, a Russian man named Valery Spiridonov, is reported to have agreed to be a donor for this procedure. As a result of being physically challenged in addition to a quest to support the furtherance of Medical Science, Valery wants his head to be cut off and transplanted unto another body. A human head transplant will actually involve joining of a donor head(nerve supply/spinal cord, blood vessels and other tissues)  to a recipient body and Dr Canavero says the procedure will require 150 medical staff for 36 hours. As to the potential for success, the Neurosurgeon believes that the chance for survival is 90%. Though he claims to have been planning for over 30 years, literature does not show convincing results with animal studies. If this operation is a success, then 2017 will be a ground breaking year in the world of medicine as a whole. For now,all of this still sounds like sci.fi. but let's watch and see.

DOCTOR COMMITS SUICIDE BY JUMPING OFF LAGOS THIRD MAINLAND BRIDGE? Our Take!

👀:africaranking.com

The story of how a supposed medical Doctor committed suicide a few hours ago, jumping off the Lagos 3rd Mainland Bridge in Nigeria into the Lagos Lagoon might sound sensational but there is certainly more to the story than the ear can appreciate,if you ask me. Psychiatrist all around the world have come to a consensus that, medical practitioners are amongst some of the few professionals very prone to depression and the rate of suicide cases amongst medics might actually be on the rise but to simply believe that a Nigerian Doctor asked his driver to stop whilst cruising his Nissan SUV across the 3rd Mainland bridge and subsequently jumped into the Lagoon? Absolutely ridiculous. He certainly was not in his clear senses. I can say for sure that this is the first case of Medic suicide I have heard of in Nigeria. There may have been isolated cases here and there but very rare.
👀:naijanews.com
I hope the Police authority and investigative journalists will do their jobs appropriately and get to the root of the matter;not just search for the body of the deceased. Other Blogs report that there were actually eye witnesses. We however cannot verify the authenticity of that claim. For those who are wondering if medical Doctors actually get depressed, you'll be surprised what the predisposing issues are. From severe sleep deprivation and burn out, when we ask you all our clients to get adequate rest but never get enough ourselves, to financial lack in the case of the Nigerian Junior to intermediate Doctor, after many years of toiling in school and all sort of other hospital related issues;in addition to general life's stressors that everyone else has to deal with. Sorry I cannot speak on behalf of my Teachers and Bosses/older Doctors.

Talking from my own personal experience, it really takes the grace of God to be strong, when the chips feel down but I want to use this opportunity to encourage everyone out there, not just Doctors alone. No matter the circumstance, even when it feels like there is no longer hope and ending it all seems the best way out, think twice and give life a chance. There is always a way out. For more information on "Medical Doctors and Depression" consult reference below. Professional Depression is a worldwide reality.

KIDNEY DISEASE & OBESITY: EPICENTRE FOR WORLD KIDNEY DAY 2017.

Healthy Kidneys

Obesity has been defined by the World Health Organisation(WHO) as, "abnormal or excessive accumulation of body fats that can impair health" and the involvement of this condition with the potential to cause kidney disease, was the central theme of "WORLD KIDNEY DAY-2017". Marked on the 9th or 10th of March every year by many Organisations and spearheaded by the "International Society of Nephrology" alongside WHO, evolving evidence is said to show that, obese people are at more risk of suffering damage to their kidneys, thus impairment and consequent loss of important functions like : excretion of excess body waste and fluid via urination; erythropoietin (chemical) support in the production of red blood cells etc.
worldkidneyday.org

It's not a funny situation at all as patients have no other option but to opt for external assistance with these vital kidney functions. Obesity for one is a major risk factor for development of kidney damaging conditions like;Diabetes Mellitus (abnormal/excess body sugar) and Hypertension (abnormally high blood pressure) amongst other conditions yet, over 600 million individuals are reported to be obese worldwide, medical Doctors and other health workers inclusive.

Some may ask, how do I know that I am obese? You can use the "BODY MASS INDEX CALCULATOR" on this Blog located in the side bar to the right to calculate what is referred to as your "BODY MASS INDEX(BMI)"- a measure of your current weight factored against your height. Normal BMI is 25kg/m² but after calculation, if you get 30kg/m² and above then you are obese and you need to either adjust your diet alongside increasing your activity via exercise or seek the help of professionals. If for nothing, it is important for us all to guard our kidneys, alongside other organs like: the brain, heart and liver with all diligence. If our kidneys have to remain healthy, then our lifestyles have to conform to healthy living practices. I had the opportunity to speak with a past President of the Nephrology Society of Nigeria, who also happens to be the foremost Transplant Nephrologist in West Africa if you ask me and he had very interesting knowledge to share about Kidney disease in Nigeria. Take a listen.

"DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IS REAL"-NIGERIA'S TONTO DIKEH CRIES OUT!

👀:facebook.com/tontodikehofficialfanpage

When your spouse draws your attention to an exclusive interview by Nigerian Actress,Tonto Dikeh aka Pokolee; the strong Tontolet herself crying out that "Domestic Violence" is real and looking all broken onset, then you must know that issues of EMOTIONAL HEALTH must never be bottled in for too long. It was barely the end of "INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY" and this video really did provide a surprising climax for some participants of various activities that marked the day. I was shocked! See Video in Link below:
TONTO DIKEH'S EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH MEDIA ROOM HUB TV.

How does this have anything to do with a "HEALTH GOSSIP BLOG" some may ask. When your onetime perhaps most controversial Nigerian actress-turned musician at one point, gives a medical history of "right sided hearing impairment and past history of physical trauma backed with images", then you will understand better.
👀:facebook.com/tontodikehofficialfanpage

We cannot at this moment and will not make effort to verify the authenticity of the claims,as we are not an investigative media outlet but one thing is for sure, "DOMESTIC VIOLENCE"- Whether male to female or vice versa, is becoming a problem of Public Health significance and must be discouraged and eradicated at every level. That's our take on this matter. See references for more information on Domestic Violence.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY: WOMEN AT WORK- by Dr. Esther Azi.

internationalwomensday.com

International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
The theme for International Women’s Day, 8 March, 2017, focuses on “Women in the Changing World of Work”  #BeBoldForChange
The International Women's Day (IWD) on March 8 is an important opportunity to:
  • celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women because visibility and awareness help drive positive change for women
  • declare bold actions you'll take as an individual or organisation to help progress the gender agenda because purposeful action can accelerate gender parity across the world
While we celebrate women and their achievements and advancements, let us critically take a look at how gender affects our health, especially women.
Though men still outnumber women in the workforce, the percent of women working has steadily increased. Women are now marrying later in life, staying in school longer, delaying childbirth, and having fewer children than in previous years. More women are choosing to continue working while also balancing the traditional parenting responsibilities.
Work-related health challenges facing women
Women face different workplace health challenges than men. This is partly because men and women tend to have different kinds of jobs. Women generally have more work-related cases of carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, respiratory diseases, infectious and parasitic diseases, and anxiety and stress disorders. Social, economic, and cultural factors also put women at risk for injury and illness. For example, women are more likely than men to do contingent work part-time, temporary, or contract work. Compared to workers in traditional job arrangements, contingent workers have lower incomes and fewer benefits. Like all workers in insecure jobs, women may fear that bringing up a safety issue could result in job loss or more difficult work situations. They may also be less likely to report a work-related injury.
Sexist treatment and gender discrimination in the workplace can affect a woman's physical and mental health. Sexual harassment can lead to
  • anxiety
  • depression
  • lower self-esteem
  • alienation
  • insomnia
  • nausea
  • headaches
Balancing work and family tasks can put additional stress on women, who in many families still take primary responsibility for childcare and eldercare. When family and work demands collide, the resulting stress can lead to physical health problems such as poor appetite, lack of sleep, increase in blood pressure, fatigue, and increased susceptibility to infection. It can also result in mental health problems such as burnout and depression.
👀:Ufuoma Evuarherhe

Women are willing to work. They are willing to give the best of their abilities when the workplace is made conducive, devoid of glass ceilings, discrimination, harassment and including certain considerations such as crèche, digital work etc. We look at powerful women such as Ivanka Trump of the Trump conglomerate and Marissa Mayer, VP of Yahoo who have combined family life with excellent work achievements to call for more action supporting and encouraging women at work.
Today, Be Bold and take action to encourage a woman at work, include them in high level management meetings, consider their biological differences, make adjustments for them and see the great output and benefit that would return to the organization and the nation at large.
The Oscar nominated movie ‘Hidden Figures’ is highly recommended to drive home the fact that centuries after, women are still striving to be taken seriously at work, to break barriers and glass ceilings and to be duly rewarded for their efforts.

#AUTOMOBILE #HEALTH FEATURE REVIEW:-"ATTENTION ASSIST" WITH THE 2017 MERCEDES BENZ E-CLASS SEDAN!

👀:futureautoreview.com

Technology is fast creeping into the world of "Wellness/Preventive Medicine" and since I am an ardent lover of vehicles, I have decide to start a weekly "AUTOMOBILE HEALTH FEATURE REVIEW".The articles will be short and mainly pictorial but let's see how far we can go with the various brands in this fierce world of competition. Today, I present the "ATTENTION ASSIST" feature of the all new 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The newer G-Series also have this lifesaving feature from what I learnt, taking a spin in a GL500 a few weeks ago. The feel was legendary but most of all the safety assist was mind-blowing.
👀:futureautoreview.com
Did you know that, with this feature, these cars are able to sense typical signs of drowsiness, sleep onset and moderate to severe inattention, giving the driver audible and visible warnings to "take a break"? The car eventually rolls to an automatic stop,if action is not taken after a few minutes. This way,the risk of trauma secondary to road traffic accident is minimised to the barest minimum. Isn't that amazing?
👀:mercedes-benz.com
You may not be able to purchase one for yourself now but whilst we dream and aspire, people in various cities across the world are already having a swell time with this and many more features that come with this piece of automobile machinery. Let's keep hope alive, never can tell. If cars are your thing, then visit again next week for another brand and another health feature. Perhaps the all new Maybach might have something interestingly healthy on show. Until then, your appetite can savour on what we have on show.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2017 #BEBOLDFORCHANGE !!!

Graphics by:Dr Ogidigben; Painting by:Terrin Art

How about we encourage women all around the world to "BE BOLD FOR CHANGE" on this special day/March 8th as we celebrate "INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2017"! Enough of the delays already. Just imagine-:

"Professor Dolly Woods had never been this much confused in her entire adult life. She had gracefully risen to the peak of her career as a Professor of Political Science and despite her legendary knowledge of Women's right, culture prohibited her from taking any decision whatsoever in the absence of her equally learned husband Professor Woods. Tatiana their only child had been stooling and throwing up for hours but without Professor Wood's permission, Madam Dolly dare not take her to the hospital and the old man wasn't reachable on his mobile phone.Should she obey age old traditions and watch her only daughter/child die from bacterial food poisoning?"

The above narrative might be fiction but you certainly will still  be surprised, when you hear of true stories that still happen in many parts of the world regardless of how educated some of the affected women are;talk-less of the mess that happens in many rural communities, especially in Africa. In some instances, lives are either being lost or severely threatened and to say there is still a lot of ground to be covered, is an understatement. Thank God for women all around the world currently taking the bull by the horn and men who go all the way to support them. March 8 is "INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2017" and on a day like this, moving forwards, women must be encouraged to 'BE BOLD FOR CHANGE"!!!

THE IMPORTANCE OF #HEALTH MEDIA- THROWBACK "LIFE LINE"-VIDEO.

Health Media is a term that always sounds strange when I mention it to people everywhere I go. What is it all about and why is the relatively new concept very importance. Take a look at the short promotion video I did for "LIFE LINE"-a topical Weekly Health Magazine Television Show that airs on the Nigerian Television Authority Lagos Centre Network and you will understand what the concept is all about.

Ensure to always come back to this Blog. Health Gossip served in HEALTHERTAINING fashion. Short, witty, informative and lifesaving, just like you want it.

#TRAVEL & HEALTH- WHAT ARE THE BENEFICIAL CONNECTIONS?

People travel for various reasons:leisure, work, greener pastures, reunion, medical tourism, you name it but besides all of the reasons you can think of, are there any true health benefits associated with the process itself? I did a little internet research and some authors have even sighted scientific benefits of travel to human health,as you would see in the references. I've not quite been around the world like some of you currently reading this article but after visiting 7 countries in Africa by road, doing some air miles to the UAE and currently out in the United States, I can say for sure that, my brain cells light up when I am taking pictures of new environment and the level of new social enlightenment makes me unconsciously happier many more times than mind can imagine. Is that a plus for my social an mental health as well as for the health of those that feel the same? I leave that question for you to answer.

One fact we cannot underestimate is that, travelling without proper arrangements can do more harm than good to human health and the World Health Organisation has rightly mentioned:adequate accommodation; clean water ;good food and the absence of infectious disease breakout or even crisis, as vital factors that can make a difference when planning to take a trip. I personally recommend touring every once in a while but ensure to do so having made proper arrangements and get "Health Insurance" if possible. Enjoy.

Cure For Sickle Cell Disease Without Bone Marrow Transplant? Find Out -BBC.

Has God finally blessed planet Earth with a cure for Sickle Cell Disease without the client in question undergoing a bone marrow transplant? Well, I sighted an article on the BBC News website and a group of scientists at Necker Children's Hospital in Paris are reported to have performed a procedure that led to alteration of genetic (inherited)information in the bone marrow of a French Teenager/sickle cell patient. 15 months of observation after the therapy was instituted and the results are said to have been positive thus far with the child reported to currently be drug free. We are not able to currently confirm the authenticity of this information but if there is any element of truth in this gossip, then hope has arrived for millions of individuals with this inherited blood disorder. Normal haemoglobin molecules will now be the order of the day.
👀: commons.wikimedia.org

The sickle cell disease occurs in children when,a mutation(an abnormal alteration) in the formation process of a particular protein (Beta-2 Globin),leads to formation of abnormal haemoglobin(the oxygen carrying pigment of blood) and thus defective red blood cells that turn sickle shape upon distress and destroy easily. Up until this news, the only hope for cure has been to undergo a bone marrow transplant, where a fraction of the abnormal marrow is replaced with normal bone marrow from a donor. Though this procedure has been observed to bring respite for those who have the money to afford it, it is not without it's own issues,as clients have to be on immunosuppressive medications for life. Serious research is certainly currently ongoing with regards to finding a lasting cure to sickle cell disease but if the above therapy is eventually confirmed by the initiators and the global scientific world, then the happiness of many will know no bounds. We have our Health gossip antenna up in the air to bring the information to you immediately it is confirmed but for now, all we can do is to keep our fingers crossed and pray.

GIGANTISM & HEART DISEASE:NEIL FINGLETON/MAG THE MIGHTY OF G.O.T. DIES AT 36.

Giants are an amazing sight to behold but the consequent effects on the heart amongst other body structures, may not be so desirable. Neil Fingleton was not only the tallest British born man/the tallest man in the European Union, he was a very athletic and talented giant who featured as scary "Mag the Mighty" in the intriguing HBO hit series "Game of Thrones (G.O.T.)". He was also the scary giant sword man in "47 Ronin" to mention a few. Towering "7 ft. 7 in (232.6cm)", 36 year old Neil was declared dead on the 25th of February,2017, after suffering what British media has referred to as "HEART FAILURE".

In case you were wondering, the phenomenon of "gigantism" in children and what is termed as "acromegaly" in adults refers to, excessive linear growth of a child/adult above the average for age and sex. The most common cause is said to be the presence of a supposedly harmless/benign growth/tumour in a part of the brain referred to as the pituitary gland. This results in excessive production of "growth hormone" that unfortunately causes abnormal growth of the heart muscle,as the individual grows taller/bigger. This is a reasonable layman's explanation for the relationship between gigantism/acromegaly and heart disease. The actual pathology is certainly deeper than explained here but whatever the case may be, if you notice any sort of abnormal linear growth with your wards, it's best to take them for checkup early enough, as there are treatment modalities that can salvage the situation, especially surgical resection of the pituitary tumour.

Neil Fingleton was more than a giant to his family, friends and fans. Our heart felt condolence go out to the family. The loss was untimely but we wonder if anything could have been done to prevent it.

How Donegal Is Leading The Fightback For Rural Ireland

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

The standard chunk of Lorem Ipsum used since the 1500s is reproduced below for those interested. Sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 from "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" by Cicero are also reproduced in their exact original form, accompanied by English versions from the 1914 translation by H. Rackham.
